Food Details:
This is a whole food plant based cleanse. The herbs and supplement suggestions are minimal and optional. You will be eating three meals a day with snacks as needed. The only food you may have a harder time finding in your local grocery store is the Split Mung Dal. You can purchase this on Amazon and I will provide you with supplier resources for this and other foods when you register.
What to Expect:
Phase 1 of the cleanse is all about Removing things that are creating toxicity and ama in your body and mind. This includes things like sugar, alcohol, caffeine, coffee, meat, dairy and wheat. You can gently ease into this removal during these first 5 days. I highly recommend if these foods form a large part of your diet that you start to phase them out even prior to the start of the cleanse to give you body plenty of time to cleanse. You will also be cleansing your schedule and creating space for your new habits.
Phase 2 incorporates a mostly mono-diet of kitchari, with supporting ghee therapy and on day 12 a purgative cleanse for the bowels. Don't worry, it's not scary and will be gentle as you have prepared the body properly to release from your body and organs all that you don't need so you can flush it from your digestive tract.
Phase 3 allows you to gently ease back into a normal routine by coming back to the phase 1 foods and increasing your movement and schedule gradually back to normal-with some new learnings and habits picked up along the way.
FAQ:
1. Can I participate in the cleanse if I live outside the US?
Definitely. The cleanse is adjustable for any geographic location and you can participate from anywhere in the world.
2. What if I just can't give up coffee or caffeine?
You will get the most benefit on the cleanse if you can give these up for just these 16 days. If that is not possible, I give you a plan to wean off the coffee during the cleanse and options for substitutes as well. If you are still drinking some coffee during the cleanse it will not completely thwart your efforts, but it will be most beneficial if you can say goodbye to the cup of Joe during the cleanse.
3. Who should NOT participate in the cleanse?
This cleanse is designed for adults over the age of 18 who are generally healthy. If you are suffering from an acute illness, pregnant, or nursing the cleanse is NOT appropriate for you. If you have a chronic illness that may be aggravated by this cleanse, please consult with your primary care physician before starting the cleanse.
